Play me like a song

Aqua and crimson
midnight- black beads interlaced like lovers holding on for life
is the bracelet encircling my wrist. Colombia.
You handed me ten thousand years of civilization casually as if the world was yours to give
it was only our first date.

Riding through the golden gates heading to an unknown place
two strangers at home with each other
I exhale,
I can go anywhere with you
Who are you?

I watched you with the man the world  turned their back on a long time ago
his four-wheeled chair a throne
the walls around my heart crack open and let you in even though you hadn’t asked to enter in
It’s the way you take up space
I have a feeling things flower in your hands

he sent you
a messenger
unworthy but willing
a prayer answered
I have to remember you’re a man
and not make you god

Like the sun you burn bright in my world
illuminating the unholy
Like the moon you seduce
Exposing my hunger
Like a moth to flame
I dance
This holy fire between us
the kind that purifies and heals
Sanctifies and elevates
Let it burn
We need it
The world needs it

You come bearing gifts date two and three
Purple roses for a queen
tender kisses for my love- starved soul
desire a river between my thighs
your magic has me in chains
This is a prison I want no escape from
You asked me why there was no Adam to my Eve
Perhaps I was waiting for a man who worships at the temple of God
Not  the altar of the dollar bill
Perhaps I  was waiting for him who hears the cries of the lonely and the small
Perhaps I was waiting for you
